• Work with clients to develop project scope. Must be familiar with Front End Engineering activities and client stage gates.
• The ability and desire to lead and mentor less experienced engineers and clients in order to develop an optimal work environment for H+M and its clients.
• The ability to work with other disciplines to support EPC projects
• An understanding of codes, best practices, and where to find applicable information (ASME, API, NFPA, etc)
• Preparing and maintaining process flow diagrams, such as PFD and UFD, including heat and material balances
• Strong understanding of P&ID’s
• Sizing calculations for specifying process equipment and preparation of process data sheets
• Strong understanding of, and ability to execute, prevalent process design activities such as hydraulics, relief valves, pumping systems.
• Assessing the adequacy of the existing processes and equipment.
• Using computer modeling and simulations to design and evaluate processes and operating systems.
• Managing the cost and time constraints of ongoing projects.
• Consideration of process and personnel safety in all designs.
• Work within company policy as outlined in the H+M Employee Handbook as well as the H+M Safety Manual and OSHA Safety rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
• Fifteen (15) years of in-depth experience in chemical processes, engineering design and operations found in the petrochemical industries.
• Experience with purification, pressure vessels, reaction, distillation, and an assortment of unit operations such as pumping, metering, multiphase heat exchange, flares, vacuum systems, catalyst systems and process control
• Experience with Hazard and Operability Studies
• Experience with Environmental compliance and reporting.
• Knowledgeable in the use of Process Simulation (HYSYS, Aspen & Pro-II)
• Demonstrated problem solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and capable of establishing respect and credibility through actions, communications, understanding and personal presence;
• Ability to work with others to achieve job goals
• Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds
• Sit for long periods of time
• Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch
• Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects
Most work time is spent in an office environment.
