Core Job Responsibilities

1. Bring Value:

• Act as the Electrical Responsible Master (ERM) for H+M’s Electrical Contractor License in accordance with state requirements.

• Ensure all electrical work performed by H+M complies with applicable codes, statutes, and regulations.

• Provide technical oversight and field leadership to ensure safe and compliant electrical installations. Support the Sr. Construction Manager – E&I in building a disciplined, code-compliant electrical execution program.

2. Licensing & Regulatory Accountability:

• Serve as the designated Responsible Master Electrician for H+M’s Texas Electrical Contractor License.

• Ensure compliance with state statutes and administrative rules governing electrical contractors.

• Maintain required license status, continuing education, and documentation.

• Ensure H+M maintains required insurance coverage and licensing requirements tied to the electrical contractor registration.

• Oversee supervision structure to ensure proper licensed oversight of journeymen and apprentices.

• Ensure electrical work is performed in accordance with adopted codes and state requirements.

• Support preparation for audits, inspections, or inquiries by state authorities.

3. Code Compliance & Technical Oversight:

• Ensure installations comply with NEC and applicable state-adopted electrical codes.

• Review electrical scopes of work, drawings, and installation packages for code compliance.

• Provide technical review of grounding systems, bonding, hazardous area installations, overcurrent protection, and conductor sizing.

• Provide oversight for testing procedures including megger testing, grounding resistance testing, torque verification, and equipment startup checks.

• Establish field verification procedures for I/O availability, panel capacity, and equipment ratings.

4. Construction & Field Leadership:

• Provide field leadership on key projects to validate electrical practices.

• Support troubleshooting of complex electrical issues.

• Mentor Supervisors, Foremen and electricians on best practices and code interpretation.

• Assist with energization planning and lockout/tagout protocols.

• Support development of electrical safety procedures aligned with NFPA 70E

5. Subcontractor & Quality Support:

• Review subcontractor electrical qualifications and compliance.

• Participate in review and approval of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).

• Conduct spot inspections to ensure code adherence.

• Support resolution of electrical non-conformances.

6. Engineering & Estimating Support:

• Review electrical portions of engineering deliverables for compliance and constructability.

• Assist estimating team in reviewing electrical SOWs and identifying code-driven scope gaps.

• Provide technical guidance during bid conditioning and proposal development.

Essential Qualifications

• Active Texas Master Electrician License in good standing; assigned to zero companies.

• Qualified to serve as Responsible Master Electrician for an Electrical Contractor License.

• 10+ years industrial electrical experience.

• Strong working knowledge of NEC and Texas electrical regulations.

• Experience in industrial oil & gas, petrochemical, or manufacturing environments preferred.

• Experience with hazardous location installations (Class I, Div 1 & 2).

• Demonstrated leadership and field supervision experience.

• Ability to interpret electrical one-lines, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, grounding plans, and panel layouts.

• Familiarity with megger testing, grounding testing, continuity testing, torque verification, and commissioning support.

• Strong communication and mentoring skills.

• Strong HSE knowledge relating to E&I activities.

Environment

Working conditions encountered in this job include those found in a typical office setting as well as an indoor/outdoor industrial setting including refineries, terminals, and manufacturing facilities. Exposure includes outside weather conditions, work at elevated heights, climbing of stairs and ladders, and physical manipulation of tools and mechanical equipment. This job demands the use of standard industrial personal protective equipment as well as arc-flash-rated protective equipment as required.
