Core Job Responsibilities

• Project Oversight: Direct engineering activities across project lifecycles (FEL, FEED, and EPC execution), ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery and managing technical risks.

• Supervise and lead the development, implementation and maintenance of Engineering project execution, organization, workforce planning, systems, and procedures.

• Lead engineering department disciplines including Process, Piping, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Electrical, and Civil/Structural to ensure the delivery of industrial engineering design projects in refining and petro-chemical facilities

• Oversee estimates, schedules and budgets for the department disciplines

• Demonstrate superior abilities in leadership, self–motivation, and technical acumen as well as extensive management experience, strong communication and organizational skills, and sound judgment to foster a high-performing and innovative culture.

• Guide the development and coaching of entry-level engineers and designers within H+M’s EPC Training Programs.

• Responsible for development and execution of the engineering department’s business plan.

• Provide senior level direction and guidance to the project team that may be comprised of internal and external team members including but not limited to Project Managers, Business Development, Project Controls, Operations, Contracts and client personnel

• Manage engineering department manpower and resources to ensure profitable projects

• Work within company policy as outlined in the H+M Employee Handbook as well as the H+M Safety Manual and OSHA Safety rules

• Collaborate with Project Engineering, Project Management and Construction Leadership to ensure EPC project success.

• Ensure ongoing improvement of engineering department practices

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering school

• Minimum 15 years of engineering experience in the refining and petrochemical industry

• PE License preferred.

• Must have a proven track record of accomplishment managing engineering teams on industrial projects and capable of supervising and directing an organization of engineers, designers and support personnel

• Strong experience planning, organizing, directing, reviewing, and evaluating the activities of engineering staff and design team on assigned engineering projects.

• Possess advanced engineering knowledge and familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and acceptable industry practices.

• Experience related to downstream engineering execution for petrochemical or refinery industries

• Effective written, listening, and verbal communication skills and strong presentation skills

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills

• Strong interpersonal skills and capable of establishing respect and credibility through actions, communications, understanding and personal presence

• Ability to work with others to achieve job goals

• Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds

• Sit for long periods of time

• Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch

• Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects
