Core Job Responsibilities

Contractor Management (Primary Focus):

• Oversee and manage contractors across active capital projects

• Ensure contractor compliance with scope, specifications, and site requirements

• Monitor contractor productivity, manpower, and performance

• Enforce quality standards, and safety expectations

• Review and validate contractor schedules, work plans, and progress

Operations Coordination & Tie-Ins:

• Work directly with Operations to plan and schedule tie-ins, shutdowns, and outages

• Coordinate line isolations, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and safe work boundaries

• Ensure all required permits, procedures, and risk assessments are in place

• Minimize operational disruptions through detailed planning and sequencing

• Verify system readiness before and after tie-ins

Construction Planning & Execution:

• Coordinate day-to-day field activities across multiple projects

• Identify and resolve field conflicts, interferences, and access issues

• Ensure alignment between engineering, procurement, construction, and operations

Safety & Compliance

• Champion a strong safety culture across all contractors

• Ensure adherence to all site safety policies, including LOTO, confined space, and hot work

• Participate in safety meetings, audits, and job hazard analyses (JHAs)

• Stop work when unsafe conditions are identified

Schedule Oversight

• Track project progress against schedule and identify potential delays

• Support development of recovery plans and re-sequencing efforts

• Review field changes and assist in evaluating impacts to cost and schedule

• Validate completion of milestones for contractor billing

Documentation & Communication

• Serve as the primary field communication link between Owner, contractors, and Operations

• Lead or participate in daily coordination meetings and planning sessions

• Maintain accurate field reports, logs, and status updates

Essential Qualifications

Experience

• 7–15+ years of construction experience, preferably in industrial, oil & gas, chemical, or energy environments

• Proven experience managing contractors on behalf of an owner or EPC

• Strong experience with brownfield projects, tie-ins, and live facility work

Technical Knowledge

• Deep understanding of construction execution, sequencing, and field coordination

• Strong working knowledge of:

o Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures

o Permit-to-work systems

o Tie-ins and shutdown/outage planning

• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, and construction drawings

Skills

• Strong coordination and problem-solving skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

• Excellent communication skills with both field crews and operations personnel

• High attention to detail and accountability

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working as an Owner’s Representative or 3rd-party CM

• OSHA 30 (or equivalent safety certification)

• Experience with mechanical, piping, I&E, and civil scopes in operating facilities

Physical Requirements

• Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds

• Sit for long periods of time

• Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch

• Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects

• Primarily field-based in active industrial/construction environments • Frequent interaction with operations personnel and contractors • May require extended hours during outages, tie-ins, or critical project phases
